Above average Mexican fare. Service a little slow Sundays with the after church rush. Recommend.

Good food. Going out of business in its 91st year on Friday, June 29th. I'm gonna miss this place.

This is a long-time family business that serves traditional Mexican restaurant fare. It is consistently good, with very good service. They have a parking lot with an attendant so very convenient and safe.

Best place ever.... grew up in Oakland and my family and friends always came here ....my family and I moved to Manteca and still would drive down to Mexicali Rose even though they are closing the doors it will always have memories of many people ....Good bye never will be forgotten ....and God bless

The best Chicken Soup

Horrific service... Beans taste like they came out of a can... Zero flavor and spice, tastes like bland baby food. Saw my waitress 3 times once for my order, once when food was dropped off, and once when I asked someone to find her to get my check. Won't be back.

Food is pretty good here. Prices a bit high but the hot salsa is excellent. Best of all they serve breakfast all day and they have air conditioning!!

The food is usually really really good but tonight maybe they had a different Chef or something but quite disappointed. The tacos and enchiladas for very dry. This doesn't happen very often usually Mexicali Rose has a reputation for consistency as far as good food.

Pretty darn good Mexican food! It's touted as the oldest Mexican restaurant in oakland. The art on the walls is really cool.

We waited in line for 6 hours just to say good bye. The food was amazing and boiling hot. We will miss you Mexicali Rose!

I always come for the margaritas in the pitchers and they have been always great so far!! Arturo the bartender is culturally competent and treats everyone with dignity.. I only ordered food 3 times but it was all good!! Definitely a spot to try!!. Wish they had music..

Mexicali Rose is amazing! Food is incredible. I can't believe its so cheap for the quality of food they offer! The staff are also super friendly.

I am vegan but my father would give this historical site 10 stars. It is his favorite place in the world. He loves the crunchy tacos. Before I went vegan, I liked the cheese enchiladas but they are on the cheesy side. Now, I eat beans amd guac. Great frozen margaritas.

Hit or miss with this place. One day the food was great the next it was just OK. This place really needs a upgrade to the interior. It hasn't changed in 30 years.

Food is nasty. Very bland. Had hair in my food and they told me that I did it. Mind you we were dining in and food had just to the table when I noticed the hair. Gonna miss Joe the bartender. He makes the best drinks and funny as hell. Too bad they are closing on 6/29/18, for good.

60's style Dennys interior, serving up overpriced Costco style Mexican standards. Not good... i guess the locals like the bar???

Service and staff get five stars. The food was not that good. The chicken taste like it was canned from Costco. Nice decor and atmosphere.

Interesting vibe... They don't have some of the standard offerings for burrito insides, notably missing are al pastor and carnitas. They have pork but I'm not sure what exactly that's supposed to be. In their defense the burrito was enormous, easily the size of two normal super burritos

This has been a place I've gone to since childhood. My dad would take us after work at least once weekly. Now 3 generations later my daughter's got to go on the last day they were open this year. A jewel I had forgotten about and now they have sadly closed. I'm hoping they'll reopen soon so I can continue the family tradition of going once weekly. Huge portions, fair prices. Hoping we'll see you all again on the near future.

The food is less than substandard.The service horrible...The only thing going for this place is the bar.My BF loves the place, only reason I set foot in here. Couldn't even stomach today's lunch....Thus place is terrible...Shameful really

This place is great! Not only are they the claimed oldest Mexican restaurant in Oakland (since 1927 according to the menu) but the food and decor are both fantastic. The portion sizes are enormous and they heat the plates so your food stays hot throughout the meal, which is a nice touch.

An Oakland classic! I've been coming here since I was a little girl. The food is always good and consistent. I've never been disappointed. Oh yeah, the margaritas are good too.

Come for a warm, relatively cheap meal on a rainy day. You can pop in ear buds and watch Netflix while you chow down on enchiladas without being rushed. Food is alright. Homey.
